Advantages of a Network
If you are a business with over 3 computers you probably
could save money by letting us install a Network (LAN) in your business.
With 5 or more computers, the savings is almost guaranteed in every case.
(Cost
estimates click here.)
-
Eliminate Modems and go with DSL Internet: With the network adding
DSL Internet access is simply to go from 56k to 384k. Cut costs of separate
dial up accounts, multiple phone lines, and slower Internet access. In
a business with 5-10 computers, DSL (if available in your area) will save
you the cost of us doing the network setup!
-
Centralized backup: All the computers in the network can be set
up to save files in one location or we can write small programs that would
allow each user to back up their information to the "server." The backup
program can be set up to backup all the important information your company
has at night.
-
Shared document files: templates, invoices, customer lists, company
email could all be accessed by everyone where now it has to be moved from
place to place with floppies or zip disks.
-
Shared programs: When you buy new software, purchase the network
version and save some serious $$$.
-
Shared Printers: Eliminate the need for everyone to have a printer.
Install one super fast laser printer that everyone can use and pay for
it in about a year over the cost of Ink jet ink cartridges.
-
Uniformity of information: On individual company documents, many
times different fonts, colors etc. are used by each person who prints them.
With a network, all will use the same template and it could be printed
from the same printer every time. Much more professional looking.
-
Roving Employees & Multiple Jobs for same person: Since all
will be using documents stored in one location. Any employee can use someone
else's computer. During employee vacations or sicknesses, the slack could
be taken up by others in the office and never leave their own 'space'.
-
Ability to restore entire computers: (This is only with Novell and
NT networks.) If Windows does a fatal "crash & burn" then you can insert
a floppy disk and restore a backup copy of the entire system from the server.
Hardrive crashes become a discomfort-- not the end of the world.
-
Higher security: (This is only with Novell and somewhat with NT
or W2k.) You can limit janitors from seeing the payroll. Keep viruses from
destroying everything. Stop unauthorized snooping. You can even track login
times and dates.
If your computer wiring looks like the examples here, you need to call
us immediately and fire either your accountant or IT person. Example

may take some time to load.
